Firebug 1.9b2

Friday, November 25th, 2011

Firebug 1.9b2 has been released.

At this point (beta phase) we are focusing mainly on:

  • Stability and regression bugs
  • Memory Leaks

Let us know if Firebug causes higher memory consumption. Several leaks have been already fixed and so, we expect improvement in this area!

We would also like to encourage all Firebug users to download Firebug releases from addons.mozilla.org (AMO). Its infrastructure is better and you can also get automated Firefox compatibility updates with new Firefox versions.

The existing getfirebug.com/releases archive will be still maintained since it represents great history of all releases (not only Firebug but also some in-house developed extensions).

In any case, we are planning to redirect all Firebug updates to AMO. So, even if Firebug is downloaded from getfirebug.com updates will come from AMO.

All this stuff is transparent so, regular Firebug user shouldn’t even notice that.

Firebug 1.9b2 fixes 10 issues.

Post feedback in the newsgroup, thanks!

Firebug 1.9b1

Friday, November 11th, 2011

getfirebug.com has Firebug 1.9b1

Also uploaded on AMO beta channel.

Firebug 1.9b1 fixes 11 issues.

We have started a beta phase for Firebug 1.9 since we think that this branch is in good shape and much better than 1.8. We also hope to get more feedback from beta testers!

If you are a Firebug extension developer then now it’s the time to test your extensions against this version. We are ready to help you with problems that could appear. Just ask on Firebug newsgroup.

Firebug 1.9b1 is compatible with Firefox 5 – Firefox 10.

There is currently one bug in Firefox (related to JSD) that prevents using Firebug’s debugger on Firefox Nightly channel.

Two new features:

Sebastian Zartner extended the Net Panel and implemented a support for WOFF fonts. It is now possible to inspect meta-data of *.woff files sent by the server. Check it out! – Issue 3071

Thanks to Harutyun Amirjanyan Firebug can be positioned on all fours sides of the browser window. Use Firebug Start Button to pick the one you prefer! – Issue 3997

Post feedback in the newsgroup, thanks!
